Accoustical Suspension

That is quite fascinating to watch. I'm still trying to work out what the "crud" is on the sufaces of the metal parts of the "speakers" or vibrators.

My initial thought leans toward some sort of buffering material for the sound, like the spongy stuff on earphones; but then it also looks like something someone might step in at the park.
