For those interested, I have uploaded another Boswell Sister clip on YouTube featuring them singing "Heebie Jeebies":

Thanks for another wonderful video Bob,

It's just great to see the Boswell Sisters getting so much attention lately ... Laughland just featured the "Heebie Jeebies" in this thread from Don.

Get Bozzed here

(I think I'm sweet on Connee :-)

There's also an interesting memorial slide show set to them singing Goin' Home.

Besides pictures of some places around New Orleans it has some great photos of the three sisters through the years - beginning when they were very young. And oh yeah - it has their gravestones also...

Oh WOW! While checking the link for my last post I noticed that just within the past few days someone has uploaded the first film appearance by the Boswell Sisters in Close Farmony! Check it out as they sing to some cows!

C'mon give cow give!

Not sure if the quality is good enough for a wall poster, but how's this:

Thank you kindly...

Hmmm, maybe not enough res there for a full poster ... but it'll make a nice screensaver! I just love that photo.

Somehow, "Close Farm-ony" reminds me of the Porky Pig cartoon, "Swooner Crooner" ... a little musical encouragement and egg production went through the roof...

_ _ _

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed that a little close harmony singing could have such a positive effect on farm animals...

The Bozzies videos that Bob has been posting are all worth checking out.

But I ran across a Boswell Sisters-inspired one which gave me a "what the...?" expression on my face.

Here is the video.

It's a modern attempt to recreate their sound with a single live vocalist. Since she can't sing three parts at once it sounds like she is having her voice tripled electronically. And let's just say that the musical accompanyment is a pale imitation of what the sisters had in the 30s.

Wow, it's SPOOKY ... if you close your eyes, and if you didn't know that this was a modern recreation ... it sounds JUST LIKE a crappy modern recreation!

And, if for any reason that happens to whet your appetite for still another iffy Boswell recreation, here are the Pfister Sisters abusing one of my favorites:

"It's The Girl"

Hmmm, back to the real deal for just a minute...

Here's the lovely Connee singing "Falling Star" by herself.
