It is a cool site. I enjoyed hearing some of the Maurice Chevalier songs; the sound quality wasn't so hot for the earlier songs. I guess Dismuke has spoiled us.

Thanks for the tip!!! rolleyes.gif

Every file is cut off early! That's SOOOOO annoying. I have a hard time enjoying a song when I know I'll only be hearing 3/4 of it! ph34r.gif

Jarred

This only happens with Realplayer. They will play all the way to the end with any other player. To play them using Realplayer the fix is to download the files and run them threw a file conversion program. I convert the mp3 files to mp3s at a guality of 128kbps and they will play in RealPlayer just fine.

Agree with Jarred. This is a real bummer. It's useless and disappointing. Whoever figured this out must work for FEMA.

Bob, thanks for the fix, but I don't totally understand what to do. Should I try another entire realplayer or winamp system? tnx. gart

Long-established message board members will know that we have been over this topic twice already. One solution is to download files to My Music or whatever and then to play them with a player other than RealPlayer, for example Windows Media Player or Winamp. The recordings then play right to the end with no problem and they can be burned to CD in their entirety. No-one has yet come up with an explanation.
A separate problem with this site is that a few of the files, the Jack Buchanan offerings for example, have been recorded excessively loud and are badly distorted. Listen before burning!

I see you are hiding behind those little goggles! Ha Ha. I have days like that too!!

The guy responded to my guest book signing for that website. He seems like a very nice guy, if you mention that problem to him, maybe he can fix it!

The duration is incorrect for these files. I suspect the problem is the software or the method that was used to create the initial mp3 files.

RealPlayer must be using the duration time in its calculations to determine end of file. Consequently, the file is not played to the end.

I noticed that the files are in variable bit rate format. This could also be a problem with RealPlayer

I learned a long time ago to use RealPlayer only for rm files.
