Someone registered to the board today with the intention of spamming. The person attempted to post a spam message but it was never published due to the fact that postings from all new members go immediately to a moderation queue and must be approved before they are visible to visitors. This person, however, sent at least one spam message through the board's Personal Message system. I suspect that he/she sent more than one message due to the fact that a number of regular members were visible as recent visitors in the spammer's profile.

I have now disabled access for brand new members to send PMs to other board members. I regret having to do so because I realize that there are occasionally individuals who register to the board specifically so they can contact one of the members privately regarding something they posted. But such instances are not frequent enough to warrant everyone else on the board being subjected to spam.

As a reminder - here is the registration process for joining the board:

1) Follow the "register" link and follow the subsequent instructions. You will be required to enter a valid email address and respond to a confirmation email that will be sent to that address.

2) Once you have registered, your membership status will be listed as "validating." You WILL have the ability to submit postings and to respond to postings. But your postings will go first to a moderation queue where they will be reviewed and approved before they are visible to visitors. I try to get to this as quickly as I can - but sometimes I become busy and it may take as long as 24 hours before I get to it.

3) Once you have submitted a posting and it is obvious that you are a legitimate member and not a spammer, your membership status will be upgraded to regular member and you will have full posting privileges, including sending Personal Messages to other board members.

Can't say as I blame you,"D"... unfortunately, spam & spammers are something that those of us who do business on line have been forced to have to confront and deal with on a regular basis. Keep up the great work, my friend.

Fair winds!
