Hi friends of Dismuke!

A new recording made by the Orquesta Internacional, conducted by Nat Shilkret in 1922. It is the composition of Sueños de Opio, with an interesting atmosphere of mystery in the central part of the score, an excellent fox trot, I hope you enjoy.

Orquesta Internacional

Sueños de Opio – Fox Trot (Opium Dreams)
Belisario de Jesús García de la Garza

N.Y. 22 May 1922
Victor Nº 73369
Matrix B-26376 (3)

I give thanks for the kind collaboration of my friend Diego Castillo, who gave me this recording. wink.gif

Cristian - I really like what I'm hearing. A very enjoyable mix of instruments.

But I am hearing only one recording - both links are giving me the same tune. unsure.gif

Neither one sounds like Tiger Rag to me so I guess they are both copies of Santa Paula Stomp.

ohmy.gif Sorry!!!!!!! Now is correct, you can hear Tiger Rag (El Paso del Tigre) wink.gif

Dear Friends, Eddie Gregory, Aaron and Diego: thank very much for your words of consolation, it is very gratifying to know this situation has happened to me not only me, but as a cautionary rule, I will take security measures to all my new purchases of 78 rpm in the future This weekend I prepared on hard cardboard to keep my records, I hope to repair this record, and work as much as possible in the rescue, once it is ready, we will gladly send them to you. wink.gif

Hi
Last night I had a misfortune in my 78 rpm record collection, I was ready to burn on my PC to restore and digitize it, however, a clumsy oversight broke it, the record was shut down with some more, others were not passed nothing. Maybe try rescue fixing. The sound will not the same, a shame.

Brothers and sisters,

I am a rapper deeply interested in early Jazz Bands from the 10s and the 20s. I'm 18 years old, and as part of a new generation, I want to express my gratefulness to all those people who digitize their collections and put them within reach of the younger generations like me. It's much appreciated.

Here is my first post. Nobody has uploaded this to Internet before.

I'm looking to compile a play list of songs not necessarlily about trains, but have train sound effects in them. I know I posted something along these lines years ago (can you believe it?--years?)!! I don't remember much of a list! So I'm trying again!

Songs I have already:

"Choo Choo", "Farwell Blues (Abe Lyman), "Daybreak Express" (Ellington), "Beyond the Blue Horizon" (Olsen), "My Cuties Due At Two To Two Today" (Weems), "Flag That Train To Alabam", (Hamm)...

any more?!

Any song that has a "Clickity-clack drums", "whistles", or just great creative arranging... all that create the feeling of being on a train...

Thanks!

Greg, here it is another train effects recording, made by:

Fess Williams & His Royal Flush Orchestra

Hot Town
Recorded 17/04/1929
Victor V-38077-A

Carmen Miranda is so often associated with the music and styles of the 1940's that it's especially wonderful to see this flapperish picture and hear a song by her in the late 20's style! Thanks! And enjoy it I did!

Hi friends, here a rare an early recording made by a young Carmen Miranda, recording by studio orchestra in Rio de Janeiro 1930, the song a Fox trot:

De Quem Eu Gosto (I Like For You) - Fox Tot

Enjoy it! wink.gif

Here the lyrics in portuguese and english version:

Portuguese version:

Interessante o capricho teu!
Tranquilamente nesse jardim...
Aí, aí, tá gostoso sim!

Tranquilamente nesse jardim...
Aí, aí, tá gostoso sim!

English version:
My buddy is too sweet
All I ask is my baby soon
I've never seen anyone be "sincere" well
Came from heaven especially for me

I'll tell a story well chaps
To make an idea rightly
I found him once so
which suddenly drove him this sermon:

There, there, tá tá gostoso! There, there, but as this is good!
In a dark corner in a low voice to talk ...
And I have time I try ...
But that irony and come find you

There, there, yes're yummy! Interestingly your whim!
Quietly in the garden ...
There, there, yes're yummy!

Quietly in the garden ...
There, there, yes're yummy!

And I'll have to second Mr. Dismuke--that label is priceless with the little cat holding the record! Only in the 20's could something so charming have been designed!

Plagiarism or not, it's a beautiful song, too! By any other name it's still Nat Shilkret! Never heard an Orquesta Internacional I didn't like!

Eddie the Collector

really cute this label, so simple but full of charm, really in the 20s this things happened.
thanks as ever for your commentaries!

The recording

Wonderful.

I have some video footage of people dancing the fox trot in the 1920's. Is it ok if I have them dance to this song in my next youtube video? It sounds perfect for it. Cheers.
