Aaron's current topic about chicken songs reminded me of another favorite device used in the 20's--for want of a better term I call them the stutter songs. I don't know if When the Red Red Robin Comes Bob-Bob-Bobbin Along (1926) was the opening salvo for this device, but here are some other titles perhaps someone can furnish sound files for:
You are my Hap-Hap-Happiness - ? What do we Do on a Dew-Dew-Dewy Day? - Shilkret If I can Ba-Ba-Baby You - Missouri Jazz Band When the Bab-bab-babbling Brook goes Bub-bub-bubling by - Colonial Club Orch. Do-Do-Do what you Done-Done-Done Before, Baby Nothin' Does-Does Like it Used to Do-Do-Do - California Ramblers Have I named them all--seems like there's even more.
